The latest update of Midjourney AI has introduced a new feature called “zoom out.” If you’re wondering how to use it, I can help explain.
How to use Midjourney v5.2 zoom out feature?
If you want to use Midjourney v5.2 Zoom Out feature, it’s quite simple. According to the information from the Midjourney Discord, they have made the V5.2 version available by default to get more people to test it. This means accessing the Zoom Out feature in Midjourney’s V5.2 is straightforward. But how do you actually use it?
- Generate an image
- Upscale your image of choice
- Choose your aspect ratio and zoom scale
- Enjoy

To experiment with V5.2, you don’t have to set it up yourself. The model updates have been automatically applied to your user settings, and they will become active as soon as you start using a prompt. One of the new features is Midjourney’s Zoom Out function, which we’ll explore first.
We're testing V5.2 today, it includes improved aesthetics, coherence, text understanding, sharper images, higher variation modes, zoom-out outpainting, and a new /shorten command for analyzing your prompt tokens. Enjoy!

Now, below the enlarged image, users will see three buttons: “Zoom Out 2x,” “Zoom Out 1.5x,” and “Custom Zoom.” The first two buttons will make the image smaller by two times and one-and-a-half times its original size, respectively. The “Custom Zoom” button will allow users to manually adjust the zoom level between 1.0 and 2.0 using a simple prompt. If the zoom level exceeds 2.0, an error message will appear, asking users to keep the value between 1.0 and 2.0.
